Many of us enjoy watching sports events, for example, whenever it is Superbowl time, we can see all different kinds of merchandise items related to the game go on promotion. From hats, t-shirts, jackets, watches..etc you name it, and fans are willing to pay for it, even the high-ticket items, such as travel all the way to where the game is…
However, if you would ask most of the fans, would they be willing to pay the price to be trained as football players, go through all the hard work, and no guaranteed to get to the level of Superbowl, many are unlikely up to the challenge.
It is obviously there is a huge difference between the Fan and the Player. How about starting and operating a business? In today’s user-friendly technology DNA age, to start and operate a small business is not that difficult, when we compares with few years ago, so how come there are still over 90% of business owners fail in the first 3 years?
While there might be a dozen of factors to cause the above result, in the light of the difference between being a FAN, or being a PLAYER, As a Fan, we don’t have to practice, push ourselves over the limit, conquer different kinds of fear, endure the pressure of failure, not the mention taking the tremendous toll on our physical body, and the Fan doesn’t have to cross the finishing line! Many people are talking about the word “PASSION” when they start a business. Not many people realize that the word “Passion” means to be willing to sacrifice to do what I love or what I am called to do.
As in the market place, when people are talking about turning their “passion” in to business via online marketing especially…but sadly, many are just “talking”, or operating it in the very “surface” level!
Yes, technology has brought us convenience and leverage…but it is still a BUSINESS…and it require a price to pay. Any success requires a price, how much are we willing to pay???
Someone not long ago told me, “Kelly, good for you! Look at all these momentum you got in such a short time, it is almost overnight success!”
I laughed and replied: “If it is overnight, it is the longest overnight I’ve ever experienced, and I am still in the process!”
People often asked me how can I be so committed to do what I do, it is simple, because I found WHY I do what I do! The WHY is not just on the dream-board, or in my talking….but deep into my core, keep me awake in the night, keep me get-up in the morning! So I am willing to let go certain things at the moment, and 100% focusing on it!
Encourage you to take a moment to ask yourself : “What is your passion? And how much you are willing to pay?” then march towards to it!
I have been laughed at in the journey because:
-I am a woman,
-I was too fat, not pretty enough
-I was too poor financially…
-I was sleeping on the floor, as my mom was trying to make the ends met
-No father figure in my home (thank God He adopted me..)
-English is not my mother-tongue (btw, I haven’t spoke much Chinese in last 13 years, because I married to a Swiss man, and we both haven’t spoke our mother tongue for long.)
-I have an accent
-I dream too big
-I was divorced
-I am not expressive enough as professional speakers
-I love too much
-I give too much
-I don’t charge enough
-I am too shy….(yes, I am…but through keeping pushing myself over the edge..getting better) —-you get the ideas
You might have similar list…but you know what? It’s time to let go the past, and get rid of excuses!
It is time to ARISE and SHINE! Be a PLAYER, not just a FAN…
If you allow me, I will bring you along with me in the new era I am stepping in… How I turned the above list and more to the other side! I am NO guru, I am NO multi-millionaire yet, I have NO giant list…
I am just an ordinary woman, determined and walk by GRACE God gave me, using the gifts and experience to march forward!
I know I need a capture page…but I am so focused in writing now…
I don’t mind I don’t catch a lead yet..
I know people do care, see the enclosed photo, and it is just ONE example..
I always treat my audience with regard, as PEOPLE, not number…
So we will see, does the style of “REAL” leadership and no-so-marketing driven message will take us on….based on the true entrepreneurial spirit!
